The Best Country Music Festivals – Part 1

One of the best ways of exploring a country is by traveling around and seeing new places and meeting the locals. And when you do this connected to something that you really love, say, going to country music festivals, then you have got a win-win situation.

In this blog we look at the finest country music festivals in the USA, from beach festivities to more out left field venues, all with one common theme: featuring the world’s best country music players.

Stagecoach – Indio

For our first festival we travel to California and perhaps one of the best-known country music festivals of them all, namely Stagecoach. Stagecoach is the country sibling of the massive Coachella festival and first started presenting the very best country music’s bands in 2007. Held at the same venue as Coachella, Stagecoach draws the biggest acts to the scenic setting of the Empire Polo Fields in the dry desert of Indio. Like its sister, there is top grade music along with line dancing halls, craft beer, stalls & boutiques, a children’s area including an iconic ferris wheel. Artists billed to appear in 2018 are Keith Urban, Garth Brooks, Kelsea Ballerini and Florida Georgia Line.

Tortuga – Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale has to be one of the most iconic settings for a music festival, and Tortuga is one of the top music festivals in any genre in America. Nothing is quite like sitting on the sand facing the South Florida Ocean whilst listening to your favorite bands performing. And when the festival finishes for the night, the after parties at all the numerous beach bars and hotel bars keeps Ft. Lauderdale rocking until morning. The festival takes place annually in April when the weather is perfect for fans to have a real good party.

CMA Fest – Nashville

The home of country music just had to have its own festival, and CMA Fest will not let you down. It is not your average country music festival by any means, but nobody can dispute it is one of the very best. Sports fans can also get excited as the main stage is located in the superb Nissan Stadium which, of course, is home to the Tennessee Titans. The rest of the festival is spread out and you can find stages just about everywhere during a weeklong tribute to country music.

Head down to Lower Broadway and Downtown Nashville and you can catch bands playing at Music City Center, Fan X, The Grand Ole Opry and the Ryman.

Carolina Country Music Fest – Myrtle Beach

Another beach festival, but this time not on the actual sand but even so very close to the Atlantic Ocean. As you would expect a great numbers of festival goers are from the South and CCMF always has a very strong lineup of artists. 2017 saw Granger Smith, Kenny Chesney, Darius Rucker, Chris Young and Walter McGuire, all performing and giving knockout performances on all CCMF stages. In part two of our journey across America to discover the best country music festivals we travel to Mexico, Michigan and, once again, Florida.
